Carlos G. Vigo Torres, AIA

Graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with degrees in Environmental Design, Architecture, and Urban Studies, Carlos believes architecture should be filled with emotionally rich experiences that defy the expectations of the participant, but also responds to their spontaneous behaviors.

As a student, Carlos participated in various design charrettes and represented his university as AIAS Chapter president in 2009-2010, working closely with industry leaders, at the local and national levels. While in school, Carlos developed special interests in the urban environment, the city, the dwellers, and their interactions, thus dedicating most of his investigations to this subject. Soon after graduation, he won an Award of Merit for his thesis project, Casa Grande: Centro Empresarial y Turístico del Café, at the 2014 AIA Puerto Rico Honor Awards.

Professionally, Carlos started his career working with various design firms in Puerto Rico, among them OGM Arquitectos, Hacedor:maker/arquitectos and The Office of Marvel & Marchand Architects, on a diverse portfolio of projects of all sizes. In 2015, Carlos worked with New York City based firm Marvel Architects in large scale urban projects. In summer of 2016, he relocated to Washington DC to continue his professional development and since has been working with Shalom Baranes Associates in medium to large scale projects. Carlos is a Licensed Architect in the District of Columbia.
